All courses are run by staff from the partnership organisations and are developed and delivered by professionals, many of whom will have lived experience of mental or physical illness, and/or experience of supporting someone with a mental or physical illness
Some courses may have been co-produced with experts by experience and some courses may have experts by experience co-facilitating the training.

Details
Course Overview: A 12 week activity programme with an emphasis on fun and games rather than a conventional workout. Promoting low levels of movement, activity, flexibility and co-ordination.
Course Duration: 12 weekly sessions lasting 1.5hrs -Thursday afternoon. Multiple start dates throughout the year.
Course Benefits: Increased confidence, co-ordination, balance, flexibility, energy levels, motivation, teamwork, concentration and social skills.
Course Equipment: All equipment will be provided
Course Eligibility: New Opportunities Worcestershire courses/activities are to help Worcestershire adults (18+) in their recovery from severe mental ill health, through engagement in meaningful roles and activities. NOW is open to Worcestershire adults receiving services from the Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams who are not yet ready to access mainstream activities due to isolation, and low self-esteem. Helping them to gain confidence, reduce isolation and increase concentration to enable them to move into mainstream activities, or progress into other parts of the pathway. Other criteria may apply.

Course Overview: Develop new or existing skills in observation, drawing, painting and printing. Enjoy creating pieces of artwork for yourself, at your own pace.
Course Duration: 12 weekly sessions lasting 1 hr 45 mins - Wednesday afternoons. Multiple start dates throughout the year.
Course Benefits: The skills you develop can help you express your sense of self through your own artwork. Creative activity has been shown to increase concentration, self-esteem, provide a sense of purpose and give structure to a day. It can enhance social skills, help people engage in social relationships and improve quality of life. Whilst sessions are led, students will be encouraged to develop their own work. Students will often progress to join other community or local education based art courses.

Art - A Night at the Museum - Online

Course Overview: This course utilises various online Museum and Gallery tours for inspiration for sessions. We will consider various Artists and Artifacts as a base to create images using various media.
Course Duration: 6 weekly sessions lasting 1.5 hours - Online. Multiple start dates throughout the year.
Course Benefits: You will be supported to explore creative, virtual platforms online whilst learning some aspects of Art and Museum history.
Course Equipment: As well as a good internet connection and smartphone, PC or Laptop, learners will need some basic art materials at home and a space to create.

Art - Sketch Walks in Worcester

Course Overview: A small sketching art group, meeting in various locations on Thursday mornings each week. Venues are all based within the Worcester city area including Worcester Cathedral, Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery, various café’s and local popular landmarks. This small, supportive group is for any level of artist and is a weekly opportunity for you to develop your observation, sketching and social skills.

Cardmaking - Online

Course Overview: From week 1 you will learn basic skills in card making techniques in order for you to produce some stunning cards by week 11.
Course Duration: 11 weekly sessions on Wednesday afternoons lasting 1.5 hours. Multiple start dates throughout the year.
Course Benefits: Creative activity has been shown to increase self-esteem, provide a sense of purpose and give structure to a day. It can enhance social skills, help people engage in social relationships builds concentration and confidence which improves quality of life and adds a little bit of fun.
Course Equipment needed: Card in assorted colours, Scissors, Wet glue, Double sided tape, Foam tabs

Course Overview: Do you look after someone who needs your support? Then you are a carer. Worcestershire Association of Carers provides one to one and group support with information and guidance to carers across Worcestershire. (Support is ongoing, course and session times may vary).
Course Aims/ Outcomes: To provide carers in Worcestershire with information and support for the wellbeing of themselves and the people they care for.
