Course Overview:

This half day course is an introductory four hour session to raise awareness of mental health, that of other people, and our own as well as sharing tips on how to look after our mental health and wellbeing .

It is designed to give you:

  • An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
  • An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
  • Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

What to expect:

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. We limit numbers to 20 people per course* so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.  We make sure that everyone feels welcome, safe and able to join in, in a way that they are comfortable with.

Everyone who completes the course will take away:

  • A manual to refer to whenever you need it
  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health**
  • A certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware

  • What is mental health?
  • Factors which affect  our mental health
  • Stigma
  • Stress and stress management
  • An  introduction to common mental health conditions
  • Recovery
  • Starting a supportive conversation
  • Self care
  • Helpful resources

The course is open to anyone over the age of 18 living, volunteering, or working for a voluntary organisation, faith group or charity in Herefordshire or Worcestershire.

This licenced course is fully subsidised and free to attend. MHFA England value this course at £125 per person.
